Picking Bhanu Khan for Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela
Legendary Bollywood choreographer Chinni Prakash, who conceived and presented the entire Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela back in the day, recalled working with Bhanu Khan. In an exclusive chat with Zoom, he spoke about keeping Bhanu as the lead dancer opposite Bobby Deol. "Even to make the song look good, you need someone very presentable. When you keep a shot, there should be a beautiful face. She was a very good-looking girl, very lean and good dancer. She used to move nicely and had a craze. Actors, directors, everyone wanted her in the frame. For us also, she was one of the main girls who did so many other songs."
Bhanu was basically an assistant to Prakash's wife Rekha. So, she often appeared in the song videos of the couple's individual work. "Bhanu was actually an assistant to my wife Rekha. She was one of the main leads for me too, whenever I kept two dancers in the front and two in the back," Prakash added.
Bhanu Khan's face getting replaced by Mona Singh in The Ba***ds of Bollywood
In The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela brings a twist where Mona Singh's character reveals Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya) to be the son of Bobby's Ajay Talvar born out of wedlock. In a flashback of the song, we see Mona dancing as what Bhanu originally did and a romance track between her and Bobby is hinted. The twist had a meta reference, and Mona's face getting morphed on Bhanu for the show was so seamlessly done that it wasn't just a shock for the new generation watching the series, but also for the millennials, who've grown up watching the song from Gupt (1997).We asked Prakash about casting Bhanu in the song. He expressed, "There was no casting of background dancers at that time. They used to just work with me. I used to fly all my dancer girls and boys from Chennai. There were no Bombay dancers at that time. We had a troupe of 100 people. The choreographer decided everything."

Where is Bhanu Khan now?
While Bhanu's name has become a topic of curiosity, fans have ever since been trying to dig out more information about her whereabouts. The choreographer clarified, "We don't know where she is now. Every 10 years, we keep changing dancers. They all move out and do their own work. Some get married, some settle down. Some leave India and shift to Dubai, America... They all get busy. I don't have any connection with them now."
