he deserves the prize, though ultimately he was not awarded it for the year. While the prestigious honour has over the years recognised individuals from diverse walks of life for their dedication to peace, it’s interesting to note that no movie star has ever received the Nobel Peace Prize - despite many lending their voices and influence to humanitarian causes. That said, several actors have been celebrated and honoured globally for their remarkable contributions to peace and social justice.
Audrey Hepburn
The iconic Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn never won the Nobel. However, she did receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 for her humanitarian work with UNICEF. Bono
Bono, the lead singer of U2, has in fact been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times for his activism around debt relief and AIDS awareness in Africa.
Angelina Jolie
As a UNHCR Special Envoy, Angelina Jolie has worked extensively with refugees and received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy. Her name has occasionally come up in public discussions about possible Nobel contenders.
George Clooney
Hollywood actor George Clooney, who is also the co-founder of the “Not On Our Watch” project and advocate for peace in Darfur, he has also been rumoured to have received Nobel nominations but it has never been confirmed nor has he been awarded.Apart from these there have been rumours of others who have allegedly been nominated for a Nobel. These include the famed Charlie Chaplin who was reportedly nominated in the 1940 and 1950s, though the official record is sealed. Yoko Ono who was associated with peace activism alongside John Lennon too was reportedly considered at a point in time.
