Telangana has just kicked off its Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive 2025, with a renewed determination to protect every child under the age of 5 from the hands of poliovirus. Beginning today, on October 12, 2025, this special polio drive spans through 6 different districts; Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Sangareddy, Hanamkonda, and Warangal Urban, and aims to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated. The campaign is organised by the Telangana Health Department and is part of India’s ongoing national effort to maintain its polio-free status amid all the rising global concerns. With reports surfacing of poliovirus coming back in neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan, health authorities have stepped up precautionary measures to prevent
any possible reintroduction of the virus to India.
According to the reports, in Hyderabad itself, over 2,843 immunisation booths have been set up to cover approximately 5.17 lakh children. These vaccination booths will be operational from 7 am to 6 pm and the access will be made convenient as well. These booths will be set up around nearby health centres, schools, bus stations, railway stations and even mobile units have been deployed across areas where there is a high footfall.Read More: Joe Biden’s Prostate Cancer Treatment: How Radiation Therapy Works? The drive isn’t limited to just booths. From October 13-15, health workers will also be conducting door-to-door campaigns in 164 high-risk localities in order to reach the children who may have missed the drops. This meticulous outreach involves over 11,200 trained personnel, including health workers, ASHA volunteers, and Anganwadi staff, supported by local community leaders and NGOs. Officials have also urged parents to cooperate wholeheartedly and ensure that their children receive the two drops that can save their lives. Even a single unvaccinated child, they have warned, can pose a risk to the larger community. Parents have been asked to visit the nearest immunisation booth or contact local health workers to get more information. For further assistance required, helplines such as 1070 (State Control Room) and Child Line 1098 are available for guidance on immunisation schedules. As Telangana rallies together once again for this cause, the message is clear, every drop counts, every child matters.Read More: 27-Year-Old Loses Sight After Lifting Weights; This Is What The Doctor Found
