Despite it sounding quite questionable, choosing a bride or groom solely based on their earning while in an arranged match is not exactly unheard of. Highlighting something similar, a matchmaking site’s CEO- Jasveer- connected the same with H-1B. For those not aware, as per US President Donald Trump's latest order, the H-1B visa petition will now cost USD 100,00K (Rs 88 lakh). Keeping both pointers side by side, the CEO stated that this sudden change will also “influence the Matrimonial market”. He particularly pointed out the Telugu community, stating that the said South Indian community often judge potential grooms and brides based on their working status in the US. Jasveer’s finding also had a lot to do with his matrimonial site- Knot Dating-
as per which, he realised that “VISA status matters”. Calling Visa status a “dealbreaker”, the CEO stated that after the unexpected change in H-1B visa fee, “American NRI profiles” can now be selected based on visa status. The post went viral in an instant, drawing multiple reactions. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post. Trump’s order, on the other hand, came into effect on September 21, Sunday- from 12:01 am EDT.
