Ishaan Khatter added another dimension to romantic films in Indian cinema with mature love stories like Dhadak and A Suitable Boy. Showing his versatility with The Royals, in which he played a prince,
the actor proved that he can also be a lovable and soft man who has the skill to charm women around him. His fans have been adoring the chemistry he shares with his female co-stars. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Ishaan revealed his favourite co-star and why chemistry with that actor is special.
Ishaan Khatter's chemistry with co-stars
Ishaan told Zoom that his chemistry with his first co-star, Janhvi Kapoor, is special, but his favourite is Tabu. He said, “My first heroine was Janhvi Kapoor and people love seeing us together; that’s a special one. But, I would say also Tabu. There’s so much to learn from her, and deceptively easy to work with. Tabu is so giving as an artist and not overcomplicated. There wasn’t too much talking and intellectualising. Her style of working is something I could adapt to easily.”

Ishaan and Janhvi made their acting debut in 2018 with Dhadak. After seven years, they reunited for Homebound. They’re not romantically paired in the Neeraj Ghaywan directorial. Homebound, produced by Dharma Productions, is India’s official entry to the Oscars 2026. Martin Scorsese served as the executive producer on the film. It also stars Vishal Jethwa in the lead and released in Indian theatres on September 26 after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 in May. A Suitable Boy is a series based on Vikram Seth's 1993 novel of the same name. The show stars Ishaan and Tabu with Tanya Maniktala. It is streaming on Netflix.
