Donald Trump recently made a declaration that the US would impose a 100% tariff on films made outside America. Reacting to it, Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma told Zoom that it is a 'non-creative' decision. In conversation with us, the filmmaker mentioned that Donald Trump's decision might leave an impact; however, the guidelines would provide better clarity.

During a chat with us, the filmmaker said in Hindi, "The guidelines haven't been specified. I feel he is more concerned about the fact that 40 per cent production has shut down in Los Angeles and zyadatar shooting subsidy ke chakkar mein America se bahar ho rahi hai."He further added, "Unka indication uski taraf hai ya indication uss taraf hai jo bahar ki films America mein release hogi — abhi tak guidelines puri tarah se clear nahi hai. And he believes that Donald Trump's decision will have an impact. "A film requires different locations for shooting. It is not necessary that if its location is India, then it has to be shot in India. This is a very non-creative decision. It is the decision of a person who does not know what creativity is and what cinema is," Sharma added in Hindi.

Anil Sharma's concluding thoughts on the announcement

On a concluding note, the Gadar 2 director mentioned in Hindi, "I don't think it (the decision) has been imposed yet or will be easily imposed. Right now it's just a tweet, and Donald sir's tweets keep coming. He is definitely thinking about his country. That's his own thinking. So, it's not necessary for us to speak on this, and there are no guidelines for us to make any proper comment on it."On the work front, Sharma's last directorial Vanvaas, was theatrically released in 2024.
