its release, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025. Released in theatres on August 28, 2025, it became an instant hit as word of mouth grew. Written and directed by Dominic Arun, the ambitious superhero film introduces Kalyani Priyadarshan as Chandra Ananya. Viewers can catch the film on its OTT debut on JioHotstar soon. On X (formerly Twitter), JioHotstar revealed, "The beginning of a new universe. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra — coming soon on JioHotstar." Produced by Dulquer Salmaan, Lokah Chapter 1 also features actors Naslen, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salim Kumar.

Unlike other South films, Lokah didn't rush to OTT within a month of release, as it was still filling up theatres. Producer Dulquer had posted, "Lokah isn’t coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements!" Lokah Chapter 1 sequel

Last month, the Malayalam film's sequel was announced. Tovino Thomas will headline Lokah Chapter 2. He was introduced alongside Kalyani's Chandra in a cameo as Michael, a Chathan. Dulquer Salmaan also had a cameo as an odiyan/shapeshifter named Charlie and is expected to return in the sequel. Dulquer's father, Mammootty, was heard in a voiceover as Moothon in the first film.
