Santosh OTT Release: When And Where To Watch Shahana Goswami's BAFTA-Nominated Police Drama

The

critically acclaimed Hindi film Santosh starring Shahana Goswami is finally making its OTT debut this month. The feature directorial debut of Sandhya Suri will release on October 17 on Lionsgate Play. The feature film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, and the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival last year. It was slated to release theatrically in India in January 2025, but ran into censor issues.

On X (formerly Twitter), the streaming service posted, "This Diwali, Santosh finally speaks - A story India has been waiting for. There are silences heavier than words, silences that can bury truth like a shallow grave. This is not a tale of heroism, but of survival. #Santosh coming to Lionsgate Play on October 17th #UnseenNoMore." Shahana Goswami leads the film as young widow Santosh, who takes up her late husband's position as a constable in the police department.

Working alongside Inspector Geeta Sharma (Sunita Rajwar) in the investigation of a Dalit teenager’s rape and murder, Santosh sees firsthand how the evidence is buried and the real perpetrators are shielded by the law. Produced by Good Chaos, Cinefrance Studios, and MetFilm Production, the Hindi film was also on the shortlist at the 97th Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. The film has been shown all over the world, starting its journey at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, and has been greatly appreciated by critics and the public alike." Praising her co-star Sunita Rajwar, she added, "All the actors in Santosh are brilliant, but I will especially speak of Sunita Rajwar, who has done an excellent job playing a very complex character.
