Rose's APT To Get Disqualified From Grammy 2025? Here's Why Blackpink Member Is At HUGE Risk From BTS - EXPLAINED
Blackpink member Rosé might not win a Grammy for her record-smashing APT this year. Infact, she stands to the extent of getting disqualified from Grammy Award consideration, and that's because of her certain
violation of rules against BTS. Her single APT featuring Bruno Mars is being seen as a strong contender for the Grammy, especially after she won at the MTV VMAs.
What's the entire matter?
Even before Grammys announced its official nominations, the buzz has already kicked in. Infact, artists vying for noms have started sending packages to Academy voting members. The Recording Academy allows these boxes to include complimentary copies of submitted music for the members, alongside marketing materials to explore and make their voting decision. However, participating artists must follow strict rules to ensure a fair and ethical voting process. And Rosé is one of the artists.Rosé's Grammy "For Your Consideration" (FYC) campaign has now caused a stir as many claim she has broken the Recording Academy's rules.
What's inside Rosé's FYC box?
As per photos which surfaced online, Rosé's package reportedly contains a T-shirt and a promotional ad highlighting the achievements of her album Rosie, and single APT. It boasts several streaming and sales milestones too.
Grammy rules for package and promotions
Things that are allowed:Artists can send promotional material like emails or social media posts about their eligible recordings. Campaigns can also include project artwork and factual, brief descriptions of the music or creators. Direct links to the project or official Grammy resources are also allowed, and free listings where artists can put their tracks on GRAMMY.com for the first round of voting.
Things that are NOT allowed: Artists cannot use Grammy logos or trademarks, or engage in negative campaigning against other recordings. They cannot exaggerate their achievements or share confidential information from entry lists. They must not make any personal plea or references to the specific Grammy telecast, or even promote other artists' work.
What rule did Rosé break?
Rosé's FYC campaign has primarily left BTS fandom, ARMYs irked, leading to online outrage. Rosé claimed that APT achieved the "biggest streaming debut" for a Korean artist in the U.S. According to Billboard, APT debuted with 31,000 SEA (streaming equivalent albums), calculated from 43.85 million on-demand streams. While BTS has been nominated multiple times, they are yet to win a Grammy. However, the boy band holds multiple albums that surpassed Rosé's debut figure. As per listings, their album BE recorded 30,000 SEA (48.56 million streams), Proof received 36,000 SEA (52.84 million streams), and Map of the Soul: 7 got 48,000 SEA (74.79 million streams). BTS fans stated that even if Proof (anthology) and BE (lower SEA) were overlooked, Map of the Soul: 7 would still exceed Rosé's tallies.
The 68th Grammy Awards are months away from its main ceremony. The official nominations are expected to be announced in November 2025 while its submission period closes down. Despite Rosé's initial strong possibility, it now remains to be seen whether the objection by ARMYs will curtain her receiving a Grammy nod.
