Priscilla Presley has a new memoir title Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis which is the follow up to Elvis and Me. In it, Priscilla notes daughter Lisa Marie’s relationship with Michael Jackson
which she thoroughly disapproved of. She reveals why she thought Michael Jackson was “manipulative.”
Priscilla Presley appalled by Lisa Marie’s wedding to Michael Jackson
On May 26, 1994, Lisa Marie and Jackson were wed in a secret ceremony. The pop star was a decade older than Lisa Marie and a self-proclaimed fan of Elvis. Priscilla was convinced that Michael was using Lisa Marie for good publicity as he was battling allegations of child molestation. She wrote, "I knew in my bones that Michael wasn’t marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty. The King of Pop was allying himself with the King of Rock & Roll. I didn’t believe he loved her. Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realised it."

She added that Lisa Marie hardly got to see her husband, "I didn’t trust his motives. A child would be a proof of virility. And I couldn’t help wondering if he wanted to have Elvis’s grandchild."The couple divorced less than two years later on January 18, 1996. "She had begun to feel like the marriage was a setup. He didn’t want to be with her; he wanted to be with Elvis Presley’s daughter. If he’d wanted to be with her, he wouldn’t have been gone for most of their marriage," Priscilla concluded on their short-lived marriage. Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 at age 50, while Lisa Marie died on January 12, 2023 at age 54.
