How Dhanush's Life Saving Support Helped Robo Shankar Overcome Tough Times

Robo Shankar passed away on Thursday on September 18, 2025 in Chennai. Fans and well-wishers are in shock after the news of the comedy star's untimely demise. Among those who paid final rites to the actor were Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, MS Bhaskar, Sivakarthikeyan and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

When Dhanush Helped Robo Shankar During His Tough Times

While Robo Shankar has worked with several A-list actors, he has time and again spoken about the affection he shares for Dhanush. In an interview, Robo Shankar, spoke about how Dhanush helped him overcome a tough period which took a toll on the family emotionally and financially. Speaking to Galatta, Robo Shankar said "I needed a favour from Dhanush, I called him and he was set to fly to work on a Hollywood film. His flight was going to take off in 10 min, and in the last minute, after much efforts, I was able to reach him. Soon after he attended my call, he said he will help me. And very quickly I got the financial aid I needed." He further said "the bond I share with him is unexplained. He looks after me so well " Dhanush and Robo Shankar worked together in Maari.

About Robo Shankar's Death

Robo Shankar was admitted at the GEM Hospital, a private hospital in the city, on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) after he fainted on the sets of a film he was working on.

“He was admitted in a critical condition with a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition. He was managed in the critical care unit with intensive medical management. Despite the best efforts of our multidisciplinary team, his condition deteriorated rapidly,” said Dr. S. Asokan, CEO of GEM Hospital, Perungudi. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in law.
