Bon Appetit Your Majesty Ending Explained: Swords And Kisses - Yoona, Lee Chae-Min Serve Perfect Platter Of 2025's Most Sumptuous Finale

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty gave audience, possibly the most satisfying K-drama endings this year. Amid the exorbitant spread of Im Yoon-ah and Lee Chae-min's brilliant acting chops, the finale week's last

two episodes were loaded with a lot of swords, blood, tears and revelations. And just when we thought it was turning into a K-trauma, the show redeemed itself to give a beautiful ending that will be remembered for a long time.

Cliffhanger and revelations

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty finale managed to resolve the massive cliffhanger about the death of King Yi Heon's mother and the real perpetrators behind the heinous act of poisoning her. It turns out his later father, along with his grandmother had a hand in it when Prince Jeseon got his maternal grandmother to appear infront of the King and reveal the truth. Just when Yi Heon is almost on the verge of losing his temper and turning into a tyrant, cook Yeon Ji-yeong holds on to stop his anger, saving him from turning into what history remembers him as - a tyrant King.

Mutiny and battles

Seeing that his plan to get the tyrant side of the King unleashed failed, Prince Jeseon then plans a mutiny within the palace by getting Ji-yeong kidnapped, forcing the king to leave the palace to look for her in the forest. Jeseon first kills the grandmother, then every loyal employee of the King, until forcing Yi Heon's step-mother to declare her child son as the acting King to spare their lives. Jeseon had plans to later dethrone the kid and take complete control of the kingdom.Elsewhere, in the forest, Jeseon and his rebel forces plant Im Song-jae to weaken the king. Seeing Song-jae getting killed at stake leads to a massive sword fight, which the King, along with his main guard, manage to win.

Undying love amid bloodshed

Meanwhile, Gong-gil saves Ji-yeong. The King returns to his palace from the forest fight, only to find his kingdom having fallen into the hands of Jeseon. He's put to exile and while getting transported out of the kingdom (Jeseon's plan being to kill the King midway), Ji-yeong and Gong-gil stop the King's envoy to rescue him. Ji-yeong's royal kitchen team also joins the fight. Jeseon manages to flee with Ji-yeong. The desperate King asks his army to go and retrieve the palace, while he chases Jeseon.

THE Mangunro

In the place, Gong-gil kills Consort Kang to avenge his sister's murder. They regain the place by killing every remaining Jeseon's army man. The meaning come out is that the "tyrant king" here was actually Prince Jeseon, and not King Yi Heon, as history has understood until now.Amid the fight between the King and Jeseon, Ji-yeong comes in between and takes the sword stab in place of her majesty. While she confesses her love for him, the ancient Mangunro, which the King has been carrying all this time to give it to Ji-yeong, gets activated and takes her back to the present. The King is left shattered.

Back to future!

Ji-yeong wakes up in a hospital to find a scar of a deep cut on her neck, proving this was not a dream, instead, she actually returned from the Jeseon era. Her bag holds the bloodstained Mangunro. Despite several attempts at going back, she fails and gives up. After a month, she gets hired at a high-end restaurant as a Michelin Star chef. To her surprise, she finds her entire royal kitchen team back in the kitchen, this time in their modern looks and with new names. She believes they are the descendants, and happily takes them as her new workmates. She plans a special Chef's menu that fuses the royal recipes with the help of the Mangunro, referring to everything she cooked at the palace for the King.

A man appearing to be a Michelin examiner comes to the restaurant and makes a fuss about the royal menu. Ji-yeong comes out to find the man being Song-jae's reincarnated avatar, only to get slammed for his poor taste choices by another man who walks in. It turns out that the man is actually Yi Heon, the King of Joseon, who has also crossed time and eras to return to Ji-yeong in a modern look, to fulfil his promise that he'll find her in any time zone if she fails to return.Ji-yeong and Yi Heon have an emotional reunion. As they kiss, leaving the entire restaurant staff in awe, the show ends.

Wholesome epilogue

In the epilogue, we get to know that Yi Heon has returned in person, and not as a descendant. Though the makers keep it discreet how he managed to come to Ji-yeong, he's shown to cook bibimbap for her in the morning, as per his promise. The two share a beautiful moment at the table, leaving the audience with a happy ending.
