Lucknow: A dreaded criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh was shot dead in an encounter with the Shamli police in Uttar Pradesh.The deceased, identified as Faisal was a shooter of the notorious Sanjeev
Jeeva gang and was involved in several heinous crimes.The encounter took place after the Shamli police got an information that a bike has been stolen around 6:15 pm on Thursday night from a couple by two miscreants. The police team began efforts to recover the vehicle and managed to corner both the accused and when asked to surrender, they opened fire at the police team, prompting retaliation. Faisal sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead, while his associate managed to flee from the spot.Narendra Pratap, SP Shamli says that a police constable has also sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the crossfire, while two inspectors narrowly escaped being hit. The constable has been rushed to the hospital and is currently under treatment. Police have recovered two country-made pistols and live cartridges from the spot.About a month ago, Faisal's another accomplice Shahrukh Pathan was killed in an encounter with the UP STF.As per the data available more than 250 criminals have been killed so far in encounters during CM Yogi Adityanath's regime.
