Amid a legal battle with Sunjay Kapur’s wife Priya Sachdev Kapur, Karisma Kapoor celebrated a quiet Diwali with her children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. The businessman, who was the actress’ ex-husband,

died at the age of 52 after reportedly swallowing a bee while playing Polo in England. According to reports, he suffered an anaphylactic shock due to the sting. While the inheritance battle gets murkier, Karisma celebrated Diwali by lighting an earthen lamp at home.

Karisma’s younger sister Kareena Kapoor Khan reacted to Karisma’s latest Instagram post. She wrote, “The strongest Girl in the world my sister (heart emojis) only positivity to you, my sam and kiu (sic).” Kareena’s sister-in-law Saba Pataudi commented, “Tight hug!” Dressed in a pastel pink ethnic suit, Karisma’s caption read, “Positivity (sic).”

Inheritance case

Amid the ongoing Rs 30,000 crore estate feud, Priya’s counsel Rajiv Nayar argued that Karisma's children cannot contest the will on the 'bogus' grounds and called their challenge 'non-existent.' During the hearing of the children’s petition challenging their late father’s purported will, Priya’s lawyer said, "The only grounds to contest a will are if the deceased was not of sound mind, was under coercion, or was incapable of executing it — none of which apply here." The counsel told the court that the will, dated March 21, 2025, had been duly disclosed and read to all family member. "I disclosed the will on July 30. It was read out to everyone, including the plaintiffs. Everybody knew that a will existed. Today, we are dealing with a non-existent challenge. It’s a bogus claim. No one has disputed Sunjay’s signature on the will," added Nayar. As per reports, Priya has inherited 75 per cent of the estate, whereas Karisma's children, who are Sunjay's heirs, only have 25 per cent share of property. On October 14, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani representing the actress noticed “glaring errors” in a document, and argued that Sunjay could not have signed a document with such mistakes, including grammatical errors. He pointed out that the terms like ‘she’ and ‘her’ were used four times in the will. A clause from the document read, "Signed and declared by Sunjay Kapur the testatrix above named as and for her last will." Jethmalani further added, "The female form of testator is used... testator is now a she! This is an absurdity... It shows the audacity which people have to present something like this in court… there is no explanation for this clause, there can't be. Unless Sunjay was of unsound mind incapable of reading English, could never have signed this... In short, Sunjay Kapur has signed this Will as a woman. It is replete with feminine pronoun… It says ‘her last will’, ‘her presence’..." On Sunjay’s birth anniversary, Karisma’s children remembered their father and cut a cake in his memory.
