According to a report, the couple had added a clause over Urban's prior struggles with substance abuse. It was rumoured that the couple split earlier this week and now Kidman has reportedly filed for divorce.

After nearly two decades, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are divorcing. The couple, who reside in Nashville, Tennessee, have been married since June 2006. They have two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. According to the BBC, the Oscar winner filed for divorce at a Tennessee court on Tuesday, September 30, citing irreconcilable differences.

Focus has now turned to a clause in their prenuptial agreement, which may lead to Kidman owing Urban over $11 million. As per Radar Online, the prenup states that Urban is entitled to $600,000 for each year of marriage if he stays sober. The final payout would come to more than $11 million after the divorce settlement. The clause was added to incentivise sobriety for the singer, as he had struggled in the past with cocaine and substance abuse. She supported him through his addiction, and now she sees him benefiting from it. That has left her feeling deeply betrayed."Another insider added, "Keith qualifies for a huge payout because he remained sober. Nicole is glad he stayed on that path, but she resents that the payoff comes out of her pocket. To her, it feels like rubbing salt into the wound of their breakup."

Kidman and Urban have reportedly been staying apart since this summer; the country singer has been on tour, and the actress has stayed back in Nashville with their daughters. When Kidman was filming in London, she rented a property in Hampstead. Their last major public appearance was at an AFI tribute, where Urban praised Kidman.
