What is the story about?

The
gangster heartland drama, Nishaanchi, features Aaishvary Thackeray in a dual role as twin brothers Babloo and Dabloo. Also starring Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra, Anurag Kashyap's latest is about family, love, and, of course, crime. With a newcomer in the lead, the writer-director spoke about the film's casting, whether it will succeed at the box office, and why he stays away from formula.

In the interview, Anurag was reminded about a comment made by Javed Akhtar about his sports drama Mukkabaaz. He had asked Anurag why he made a film with an ending that won't make any money. Referring to a comment made by writer Salim Khan that viewers should follow a filmmaker after he has made a few films, Anurag disagreed with the concept a bit. He replied, "If you only work with your own masala, you can become irrelevant. I also take from others. I keep trying new things, and I don't want to get stuck. I stay away from formula and such people who pull me down."The filmmaker also recently premiered his other film, Bandar, starring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, at the Toronto International Film Festival.
