
Google-owned tech giant YouTube has rolled out a new subscription tier for Indian users, called YouTube Premium Lite. The plan brings ad-free playback at a much lower price compared to the regular YouTube Premium.
While it skips a few premium perks like YouTube Music, it’s still a solid option for those who mainly want uninterrupted videos. This makes it one of the most affordable ways to enjoy ad-free viewing on the platform. For context, the regular Premium plan costs Rs 149 per month, or Rs 1,490 if you go for the annual subscription. There are also Family (Rs 299/month) and Duo (Rs 219/month) options under the Premium umbrella.What Do You Get With Premium Lite?The new plan promises ad-free playback on “most” videos across categories such as gaming, beauty, fashion, news and more. That said, YouTube hasn’t clarified what exactly qualifies as “most,” which could mean that ads may still appear in some places. Notably, the Lite plan does not cover YouTube Music, and it also misses out on perks like background play and offline downloads that regular Premium subscribers enjoy.Still, for users who primarily watch long-form videos and just want to skip interruptions, Premium Lite offers decent value.
