A Reddit post detailing a distressing traffic ordeal in Bengaluru has struck a chord with thousands, reigniting conversations about the city’s worsening congestion. The user, identified as @nshl, shared
that he was driving his eight-month pregnant wife for a routine medical checkup when the situation turned nightmarish. What was supposed to be a quick 7 km trip along HAL Road near Varthur stretched into a 1.5-hour ordeal. The post, captioned “1.5 hours, 7 km, and an 8-month pregnant wife. Is Bangalore liveable anymore?”, described the panic and helplessness he felt while being gridlocked. “I kept thinking, what if this was a real emergency? What if she went into labour right now?” he wrote, adding that the suffocating immobility of being “stuck in a car for so long” left him anxious and furious. “You're just sitting duck, trapped in a metal box, watching the clock tick by. I genuinely believe this city is doomed,” he lamented.
