Bangkok Road Collapse: Roads and bridges collapsing or the ground going under surely looks fun and thrilling in movies- but in real life, such scenes are simply spine-chilling. Unfortunately enough, that
is exactly what people saw happening in Thailand’s Bangkok, after a massive part of a road collapsed on Wednesday morning, September 24. A video of everything going under- leaving a huge hole on the surface- was shared online, which went viral and left netizens horrified. As per Nation Thailand, the incident happened in front of a hospital- Vajira Hospital- on Samsen Road in Dusit District. Reportedly, keeping in mind everyone’s safety, the hospital temporarily suspended ‘outpatient services’, whereas 3,500 patients who had an appointment at the hospital were asked to reschedule. As per Nation Thailand, the collapse was a result of a ‘damaged’ ceiling in an underground metro tunnel. Reportedly, the incident was triggered after some soil entered the tunnel, followed by the collapse. “When the station ceiling was damaged, soil above it flowed into the tunnel and the under-construction underground space, causing nearby buildings to subside. The side heading towards Sanghi Bridge remains stable, but the collapsed side has soft soil and lacks supporting structures,” Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt was quoted as saying to the Nation Thailand. As soon as the video was shared online, it went viral. Most called the accident scary, while others compared it to movies.
