Anurag Kashyap clarifies his AI comment
Kashyap condemned the upcoming AI-generated film Chiranjeevi Hanuman—The Eternal. He slammed producer Vijay Subramaniam for the movie and warned against dangerous future for cinema in India, calling it a sign of undustry's decline and betrayal of human creators. In his argument, he opposed Subramaniam for heading an artists' agency while also producing an AI film. He stated that Subramaniam and others were prioritising profits over artists by turning to AI in the light of human creators not being profitable. He even demanded artists to not support such AI projects, calling those supporting it "spineless and cowardly."ALSO READ: Nishaanchi Director Anurag Kashyap On Why Film Will Make Money This Time, How He Avoids Formula - ExclusiveIn the interview, Kashyap reacted to his argument. "That's unethical to me, because I was talking about an individual. My point is, when you represent a roster of artists, which includes writers and directors, and then you are doing AI, then that is very unethical for me. I don't have a problem with a producer using AI. The whole world will use it, and that includes both ethical and unethical use. Yo can use AI, but then stop representing writers and directors.""People will make films using AI, but what is happening outside will never happen here. But that's fine, because what is inevitable is inevitable. All the actors will unite the day AI replaces them," the filmmaker added.
