A video is going viral on social media in which a foreign woman living in Mumbai shared the things she finds India does better than Germany. Her video has sparked a wide conversation among netizens and left the internet divided. The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as @life.in.mumbai. In it, the woman says, “Things that are better in India than in Germany: 5G/4G everywhere, even in the middle of nowhere; turning sockets on and off (safety and energy saving); digital clocking in at the workplace; millions of plant-based food options (settings only for vegetarians on Zomato, Swiggy); trains are on time and cheap; women-only areas on trains; and 99 percent sun.”The caption of the video read, “When Indian Railways starts running
smoother than Deutsche Bahn. Germany: fast trains. India: trains that actually show up.”
The video has sparked a debate online. While many netizens thanked her for showing the “better” side of India, several desi netizens questioned her point about “Indian trains always being on time,” with some exclaiming, “When did this ever happen?”She later clarified her stance, saying, “To say it again: You can't compare India and Germany, because Germany hasn't been exploited for more than 100 years. But it's important to me to also appreciate the positive things. How is India supposed to make trains run on time when it has such a large population? Germany can, but it doesn't.”Another user defending her point added, “I lived in Europe for like 5 months, and I can say many things in India are for sure better — people take a stand if anything goes wrong, there’s less mugging or pickpocketing, people get immediate medical attention, better UPI/payment structure, workers to help with everything, and at night at least you can get cabs easily.”Meanwhile, another user questioned, “I can’t believe trains in Germany are not on time and not safe compared to India.” The video continues to leave the internet divided on the matter.
