Thamma's Ayushmann Khurrana Calls Dinesh Vijan's Horror Comedy Franchise 'Most Sought-After Universe' In Bollywood

Ayushmann Khurrana is joining Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe with Thamma, also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The team recently spoke about the upcoming vampire love story and its unique mix of comedy, romance, and a touch of horror. Speaking about the Maddock horror-comedy franchise, which includes Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, Ayushmann called it the “most sought-after universe” in the Hindi film industry.Ayushmann Khurrana On Thamma And Horror Comedy UniverseDuring a chat with Variety, the actor revealed that he was approached for the film years ago."It started as a one-liner during the pandemic, and now it’s a full-fledged script," he revealed before adding, "I call it the most sought-after universe in Hindi cinema.

I play a Betal [a vampiric spirit from Indian folklore], and the comedy and emotion come from how an ordinary guy deals with supernatural powers. There are no references — you’re creating these characters in your mind and completely surrendering to your team. I’m as surprised by the outcome as the audience will be."
