Sayantani Ghosh is all set to enthrall us with the much-awaited show Jagadhatri. Known for her iconic portrayal as the 'OG Naagin', Ghosh will now be seen as Maya, a character she describes as layered,
real, and far removed from the stereotypical black-and-white negative roles often seen on Indian television.

Speaking about her role, Ghosh told TellyTalkIndia, “This is not a typical negative character. It’s a very complex and real character. Life is real. It’s all perspective-oriented… apart from the basic bads like hurting someone or using abusive language, my character has a lot of emotional depth.”Jagadhatri draws inspiration from Goddess Durga and focuses on themes of female empowerment, showcasing strong and multidimensional women. Ghosh shared, “Jagadhatri is a form of Maa Durga… the character embodies the strength of a mother, the power of a daughter, and the courage to stand against injustice.” She emphasised the significance of bringing authenticity to her role, “Bringing a character to life is an actress’s job. We consciously make efforts to make it real, beyond typical portrayals of negative characters.”

A key highlight of Maya’s on-screen persona is her authoritative and stylish appearance. Sayantani revealed, “Maya is a boss lady. There is a lot of power dressing. Many sarees and blouses, very classy… she is wealthy but self-made, and all these elements contribute to her personality. Her look reflects how she behaves, feels, and commands authority.” Fans can expect a mix of traditional and western-inspired blouses while maintaining Maya’s air of elegance and strength.Despite a minor foot fracture, Sayantani remained committed to the shoot. She explained, “While giving this interview, I had a foot injury – a minor crack. The team has been fantastic and very welcoming. They arranged everything to make me comfortable, from wheelchairs to shooting setups where I don’t have to walk much. It feels like homecoming.” She added, “There are a lot of hurdles I personally have to cross, but I put my entire heart and soul into every role, and this is no different.”Jagadhatri will air on Zee TV.
