
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case of cheating, impersonation and forgery against a Delhi-based resident who on three occasions tried to seek favours.Times Now has accessed CBI's
FIR which was filed on 2nd October and complainant is an assistant director at PMO. The FIR states that on May 1, accused P Rama Rao used forged letters, posed himself as deputy secretary at PMO and tried to avail facilities at Tirumala Tirupati.The letter was addressed to Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati and asked for Suprabhatam Darshan and three double AC rooms in Tirumala. After an inquiry was conducted by the PMO, it was confirmed that no individual by this name -- P Rama Rao -- was working in the office.In August the same individual, Rama Rao, called up the Pro Vice Chancellor of Symbiosis posing himself as Joint Secretary and enquired about admission in the MBA programme.Subsequently the suspect posed himself as C Sridhar a joint secretary in the PMO who sought some land documents from Tehsildar in Mysuru. In both cases (Symbiosis and Mysuru) the suspect used the same mobile phone number.The accused was trying to enquire about attachment made by ED in case of Sahara city worth 1002 acres."PMO office vide its letter dated 29.08.2025 conveyed referring their earlier communications in this regard to CBI that it has come to the notice of PMO that someone is posing as C. Sridhar, Joint Secretary to PM, has written a letter to the Tahsildar, Mysore, Karnataka and sought some land documents," FIR read."PMO observed that the Mobile Number of C. Sridhar mentioned in the said letter i.e. 9873***** is identical to the mobile number used in contacting Pro Vice-Chancellor of Symbiosis International University, Pune regarding admission of someone in their MBA programme, posing as a joint secretary in the Prime Minister's Office," FIR said.CBI's Special Crime unit has started the probe and sources said no arrests have been made till now.
