Smriti Irani on Anupamaa vs Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2
When asked about Kyunki 2 being pitted against Rupali Ganguly’s Anupamaa in every week’s TRP report, Smriti Irani told India Today, “So when somebody gets to number 30 in terms of TRPs, then you can be our competition, right? We were there 25 years ago. If you have the capacity to be remembered for 25 years, then we will talk about competition." Smriti compared it with her political career and revealed how the legacy matters more to her than performance. The actress said, “If you have been a three-time MP, a cabinet minister for a decade, a BJP person for 25 years -- if you want to compete, you have to be fair to everybody in the so-called competitive sphere. Do you measure up on all these standards? Then compete. You can't have somebody who's just started something and say, 'Compete with Smriti Irani.”Also Read : Tulsi And Parvati Reunion! Smriti Irani Shares Pic With Sakshi Tanwar, Pens Heartfelt Note For Her Smriti Irani feels that the other shows should get the number 30 like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi did in its 8-year-long run. She said, “So the competition, or even referring to such a competition, is unfair, because you'll never get to 30. And you'll never be consistently number one for eight years, which we were. The fact that we've had competitive mediums and yet managed to come back after 25 years -- that's remarkable.” She admits that today’s competition on TV and OTT mediums is very tough and complex. Smriti Irani even credited Ekta Kapoor for the huge success of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The actress-politician concluded by saying, “So, I mean, am I competing with anybody at the Stock Exchange? So [all these competition talks], I think it's foolhardy.” Talking about Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, Smriti Irani is reprising her iconic role of Tulsi. The show also features Amar Upadhyay, Barkha Bist, Shagun Sharma, Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Pooja Singh, Tanisha Mehta and others in key roles. Stay tuned for more updates!
