BTS' Suga Launches 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' To Heal Children With Autism Through Music; ARMYs Praise K-Pop Star

BTS member SUGA has once again touched hearts, not through a new album, but with an act of generosity. The rapper-producer, whose real name is Min Yoongi, has reportedly invested 5 billion KRW (approximately Rs 31 crore) to establish the Min Yoongi Treatment Center in Seoul. This newly launched facility is dedicated to providing care and support for children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The opening ceremony took place today (September 30).

Built with a Special Connection

The treatment center has been developed in collaboration with Severance Hospital, one of South Korea’s leading medical institutions. This location holds a personal significance for Yoongi, it is the same hospital where he was previously treated for appendicitis. During that stay, he famously composed BTS’s beloved track Just One Day. Years later, the hospital’s Pediatric Psychiatry Department partnered with him to bring this meaningful project to life.

The MIND Program: Music at the Core

At the heart of the center lies the MIND Program, which stands for Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity. Designed to aid the social and emotional development of children with autism, the program integrates music therapy with group interaction. Music—so closely tied to SUGA’s identity—serves as a therapeutic tool, enabling participants to express themselves and connect with others in creative ways.

Inspiration from Personal Experience

What makes the initiative even more moving is its deeply personal inspiration. Over the years, Yoongi quietly visited children with autism, often introducing himself simply as “Prof. Min.” The children, unaware of his global stardom, only knew him as a kind man who brought a guitar and played music with them. These intimate encounters inspired him to create a dedicated space where children could heal, learn, and grow.

A Legacy Etched in His Name

The center’s entrance bears the words: “Min Yoongi Treatment Center. Center for the MIND Program. Since 2025.” Significantly, Yoongi chose to use his real, romanised name instead of his stage name SUGA. Having recently completed his mandatory military service, he is gradually stepping back into the public eye. On social media, he has shared behind-the-scenes photos—often holding a guitar—hinting at new music or artistic projects in the near future.
