Following
the tragic stampede during Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, the makers of Kantara Chapter 1 announced the decision to cancel the pre-release promotional event in Chennai. Rishab Shetty, Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth and the team of the upcoming mythological thriller were scheduled to attend the event on September 30. An official statement was issued, announcing the decision to reschedule it to a later date.

Gulshan, who plays Kulashekara in Kantara Chapter 1, shared an Instagram post. It read, “In view of the recent unfortunate incident, we have decided to cancel our Kantara Chapter 1 promotional event scheduled in Chennai tomorrow. We believe this is a time for reflection and solidarity with those affected. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families impacted. We are grateful for your understanding and support, and we look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at a more appropriate time.”His caption read, “Due to the recent unfortunate incident, we are cancelling the #KantaraChapter1 promotional event in Chennai tomorrow. As per reports, the Karur rally killed at least 39 people and left 95 others injured. Vijay reacted to the stampede and tweeted, “This is indeed an irreparable loss for us. No matter who offers words of comfort, the loss of our loved ones is unbearable. Yet, as a member of your family, I intend to provide 20 lakh rupees to each family that has lost a loved one and 2 lakh rupees to those who are injured and receiving treatment. This amount is, of course, not significant in the face of such a loss. Still, at this moment, it is my duty as one who belongs to your family to stand by you, my dear ones, with a heavy heart.”Kantara Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty, will release in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali and English on October 2.Do you find this article useful?
