Honor Teases Robot Phone For The First Time With Fold-Out Sensor Arm, All You Need To Know

Honor has teased a new smartphone dubbed Robot Phone in the launch event of the Magic8 series. The device is expected to make a full-fledged debut in March during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
The company has also released a 2 minute 40 second video of the same on its official YouTube channel. From the front, the device looks just like a regular smartphone. However, at the back, it gets a robotic arm that swings out at the time of photography as per the needs of the user. Multiple reports suggest that the teaser of the phone looks a bit AI-generated. Still, Honor has said that the device is real and they will bring more details related to it in the MWC 2026 edition in Barcelona.
Honor Robot Phone Launch: What Does It Actually Mean For the Market?
First things first, we have seen mechanical concepts like phones with pop-up selfie cameras by brands like OnePlus. But this will be something new as it targets the rear camera of the device. As of now, only a limited amount of information is available on the internet related to the phone. Expectations are that the official name of the phone will also be revealed somewhere around the first quarter of 2026.

In the teaser video, Honor has shored that the camera of the device will be able to analyse the outfits of users and even trying to play peekaboo with a baby while lying on the desk. This is going to be a huge step in the direction of producing self aware smartphones. In the future, we can expect smartphones to work in the same way as AI agents operate today. And it will be no surprise if other smartphone producers jump on the trend as well.
