‘USD 4.5 For A 5-Minute Ride!’: Bengaluru YouTuber Tries Out Elon Musk’s Robotaxi | Viral Video

If the term ‘futuristic’ was an experience– this taxi ride- worth US 4.5- probably would have been it. Or so is how most netizens are reacting, after a video of a YouTuber trying out Elon Musk’s Robotaxi was shared online. Ishan Sharma, a YouTuber from Bengaluru, shared his experience of riding a Robotaxi in California. The clip showed him booking a taxi through his phone. Moments later, the futuristic-looking ride arrived- leaving him excited to experience something new. Although one of the most popular selling points for Tesla is being a self-driving car, the Robotaxi still had a driver in the driver's seat. However, the YouTuber later clarified that the presence of the driver was simply for safety purposes, as the car was anyways self-driving.

At the end of the ride, the man stated that he paid a whopping USD 4.5 (approximately Rs 399) for the mere 5-minute drive. He then turned to the internet and asked if people would be comfortable taking such a taxi. For those unaware, the Robotaxi project is one of the most awaited and anticipated ones. The project is basically supposed to offer self-driving taxis. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post. “Today I am trying out Robotaxi by Elon Musk here in California. Let’s book a ride and see how it goes. The driver is not on the steering wheel, the car is driving on its own. This is the future of taxis. This 5-minute ride cost about $4.5. Currently, the robotaxi has a person just for safety reasons, but would you be comfortable sitting in a robotaxi without a driver?” the man was heard saying.
