What is the story about?

The
Amazon Prime Video spinoff series Gen V ended with an explosive finale for its second season, which left the fates of a few characters in the air. Let's find out what happened when Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) takes on the Supe students of Godolkin University and how it sets up the story for The Boys Season 5. While there is no third season announced for Gen V, The Boys is concluding in 2026. Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
Big reveal behind Cipher and Thomas Godolkin
The penultimate episode dropped a big secret that Dean Cipher (Hamish Linklater) was just a front. He was being controlled by the supposedly weak Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater). Back in 1967, Thomas injected himself with Compound V during a lab accident. Not only did the boost give him body manipulation power, but it also made him immortal. It's the same variant, V1, which was given to Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash).Supes versus Thomas Godolkin
Godolkin's plan is simple. He wants to get rid of all the lower-powered Supes and take their power in order to puppet Homelander (Antony Starr), his ultimate goal. His girlfriend, Sister Sage (Susan Heyward), has a different plan. She needs the megalomaniac superhero for a secret Phase 2 of her plan. So it's up to the rest of the gang and Polarity (Sean Patrick Thomas) to stop Godolkin. Eventually, Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Ally (Georgie Murphy), and Harper (Jessica Clement) all combine their super strengths to take him down. The battle is bonkers (the students all make their entrance through Black Hole's butt hole!), and Marie blows up Godolkin. Her final words to him were, "That was for Andre. Thanks for the level up, asshole."ALSO READ: Gen V Season 2, Episode 1 Review: Marie, Emma And Jordan Have A Darker Return to GodolkinHow does the series finale address actor Chance Perdomo's death?
Before the big battle, Dean Cipher (Hamish Linklater) talks about Andre's death. The actor who plays him, Chance Perdomo, died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024 before the start of Season 2 filming. In the show, Andre tried using his powers to help his friends escape. Unfortunately, this causes a stroke, and he dies in front of them. Cipher, whose real name is Doug, tells Andre's father, Polarity, "He risked everything for the sake of his friends... Your son is the greatest hero I’ve ever seen." Doug dies at the hand of Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), but the show closes up the emotional arc of Andre and Perdomo in a meaningful way.How does Gen V 2 link to The Boys 5?
After the battle that destroys Godolkin, the young Supes are on the run because Vought is on the way to the scene. But Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) show up, welcoming the gang to the Resistance.Earlier, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke had stated that the final season takes place around six months after the Gen V Season 2 finale. This gives the story enough time to bring the Gen V students into the Resistance and train them well. Most, if not all, will probably show up in the fifth season as well. Marie has been one of the characters who can withstand Homelander's power, so she will be instrumental in his final takedown. The cast of The Boys Season 5 is quite large, as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles, Paul Reiser, and Gen V's London Thor are returning. New characters that are set to appear will be played by Daveed Diggs, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins. One thing is for sure, the final season is going to be epic.Do you find this article useful?
