During Diwali preparations, everyone uses their immense creativity to decorate their homes. Many often prefer using old items and transforming them into beautiful decorations. In one such example, a video
is going viral on social media, showing a man who used his mother’s old bangles to make jhallars (hanging decorations) for Diwali. What stood out most in the video was the simplicity with which the man explained the process, winning the hearts of netizens. The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as Shubham Dandotiya. The video was captioned, ““Old Things, New Shine | Diwali Recycling Idea”In the video, while showing how he made the beautiful jhallars using his mother’s old bangles, he says, “Dekhiye jhallar, sundar hai na, maine un purani chhudiyon se banaya jinhe mummy phek rahi thi. Yakeen nahi hota na, chalo aapko banake dikhata hun. Diwali aane waali hai, ghar ke safai mein sab vyasth hai, par maine socha, kyun na purani cheezon ko bhi zindagi di jaaye. Kabhi kabhi naya khareedna nahi, purane ko sawarna hi sukoon de jaata hai, kyunki roshni sirf diye se nahi aati, wo dil se bhi jagni chahiye. Iss Diwali, kuch naya nahi khareede, balki purane ko naya banaye.” (“Look at this jhallar, isn’t it beautiful? I made it from those old bangles that my mom was about to throw away. Hard to believe, right? Let me show you how I made it. Diwali is coming, and everyone is busy cleaning their homes, but I thought, why not give new life to old things too? Sometimes, instead of buying something new, simply beautifying the old brings peace, because light doesn’t only come from lamps—it should shine from the heart as well. This Diwali, don’t buy something new; instead, make the old things new again.”)
