A LinkedIn post by Jayant Mundhra has gone viral after he recounted an unexpected exchange with Uber India’s top executive — all triggered by a complaint he made about high fares on the app.Mundhra said he had shared a “very critical and viral” post about Uber’s “pricing anomalies,” venting his frustration over a recent ride. “A few days back, I wrote a very critical and viral post about Uber’s pricing anomalies (with respect to a ride experience I had). I was frustrated,” he wrote. “Within 10 minutes of it going live, I got a ping on my WhatsApp. It was from Prabhjeet Ji, who heads Uber’s entire India & South Asia business. A pretty big guy (in my words).”What surprised him most was not the message itself, but the tone of it. Instead of reacting
defensively, Mundhra said Singh reached out “calmly,” asking for details about the ride “so his team could dive deep into the problem.”Roughly 40 minutes later, Singh followed up with what Mundhra described as “a massive ping with 6 big pointers.” He wrote, “What were those pointers about? A breakdown of how Uber’s algorithm ACTUALLY determines fares.”According to Mundhra, the explanation went well beyond the usual demand-and-supply logic. “This wasn’t the basic demand-supply stuff we all know,” he said. “It was a deep dive into the complex clauses and tech nuances that create a final price. The transparency was astonishing.”While he didn’t disclose the details, Mundhra said the level of honesty left a lasting impact. “I can’t share the details — he trusted me with sensitive, competitive info, and I will honour that,” he added.
