An Indian woman's video ranting about her experiences eating in Italian restaurants is going massively viral on social media. In the video, she talked about how Italian restaurants allegedly charge customers
for the cutlery they use, and even if a slight change is requested in a dish, the staff seem to have a problem with it. The video has left the internet divided. The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as Vagmita Singh and was captioned, “Bhai yeh toh syllabus mein tha hi nahi.” (“Man, this was definitely not in the syllabus!”)In the video, she says, “Bhai yeh Italy aake pata lag raha hai ki, yahan pa jaake restaurant mein khaana khaana kissi imtehaan se kam nahi hai woh bhi national level ka, sabse pehli baat toh yahan pa restaurant main aapse cutlery ke paise liye jaate hain yes. But I had no clue, so when I saw it in the bill I was like excuse me what is this coperto and why have you charged me for it. Waiter was pissed, so coperto is the plate, you eat on a plate and you pay for the plate.” ("Brother, after coming to Italy, I realised that eating at a restaurant here is no less than an exam, and that too at a national level. The first thing is that restaurants here charge you for the cutlery, yes. But I had no clue, so when I saw it on the bill, I was like, ‘Excuse me, what is this coperto and why have you charged me for it?’ The waiter was annoyed, and I learned that coperto means the plate—you eat on a plate, and you pay for the plate.”)
