Spider-Man: Brand New Day has halted filming for one week as its star Tom Holland is taking rest after suffering a concussion on set. But while the film is paused, work goes on behind the scenes. Marvel
has reportedly cast actor Marvin Jones III as villain Tombstone, who is a recurring foil to the webbed superhero in the comics. Here's what we know so far.
Marvin Jones III cast as Tombstone in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
According to
Deadline, several sources shared that the actor would play Tombstone. They didn't have to look far to cast the role. Jones voiced Tombstone in the Sony animated feature film
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and will return for
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2027. Sony is also co-producing
Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Marvel. While Sony and Marvel did not comment on Jones's casting, the break from filming while Holland rests will not delay the film's 2026 release date. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie is still on track to release on July 31, 2026. Besides Jones, the other new actors in this sequel include
Stranger Things star Sadie Sink and
The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas. Mark Ruffalo is also set to return as The Hulk.
