Taking to X from his official handle, PM penned, "Zubeen Garg was a shining gem of Assam's cultural heritage. He will always live in the hearts of the people!" sharing a video of people attending Mann Ki Baat in Assam.In the clip, paying respect to the Ya Ali singer, PM said, "Assam is celebrating Bhupen Hazarika's birthday today, but a few days ago, a sad incident took place. People are mourning the death of Zubeen Garg, he was a famous singer, who made his mark all over the country. Zubeen Garg was deeply attached to the culture of Assam and will always be in our memories. For the unversed, Zubeen passed away at 52 in Singapore on September 19 in a scuba diving accident. The Assam government has decided to pay tribute to the singer and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg. They will distribute his ashes to organisations and individuals through an online application system.
