Kamal Haasan Applauds Treesha Thoshar As She BEATS Him To Become The Youngest National Film Award Winner

September 23, six-year-old Marathi actress Treesha Thosar became the youngest recipient of a National Film Award, as she received the honour from President Droupadi Murmu. She won the honour for her performance as Chimi (Revati) in the film Marathi film Naal 2.

Following her win, legendary actor Kamal Haasan heaped praise on her. In his post on social media, Kamal Haasan stated that she beat his record to become the youngest National award winner. The post read "Dear Ms. Treesha Thoshar, my loudest applause goes to you. You’ve beaten my record, as I was already six when I got my first award! Way to go madam. Keep working on your incredible talent. My appreciation to your elders in the house."

For the unversed, Kamal Haasan started his career as a child artist at the age of 5 in the 1960 Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma, which earned him the National Award for Best Child Artist.

The film Naal 2 is the second installment in a Naal series, it serves as a sequel to the 66th National Film Awards winner 2018 film Naal. The film stars Shrinivas Pokale, Nagraj Manjule, Devika Daftardar, Deepti Devi and Jitendra Joshi. "I still don’t fully understand what I have achieved, but I do know this much—that through this award, the name of my Maharashtra state and my entire family has been elevated. And as my mother said, in the past 70 years of National Awards, I am the youngest child artist ever to receive this honor," read the caption on Treesha's Instagram account, which is likely to be handled by the child's mother.Treesha shared the award with her Naal 2 co-stars Shrinivas Pokale and Bhargav Jagtap. Director Sukumar's 15-year-old daughter Sukriti Veni Bandreddi was also honoured with the National Award for Best Child Artist for the film Gandhi Tatha Chettu. Kabir Khandare also won the award for the Marathi film Gypsy.
