Zubeen Garg Death: Papon Cancels Mumbai Concert And Other Commitments Until 13th-Day Ritual
Singer-composer Papon is honouring his late friend Zubeen Garg by cancelling all his professional commitments unitl his 13th-day rituals. Zubeen Garg was due to perform at the North East India Festival
in Singapore when he died after a scuba diving incident in the sea on September 19. Garg was cremated in Kamarbuchi village near Guwahati, Assam on September 23; Papon has also cancelled his upcoming October 1 concert in Mumbai as he mourns.
Papon cancels all commitments in wake of friend Zubeen Garg's death
Papon has paused all promotional and other professional commitments after friend and fellow artist Zubeen Garg's death. In a statement, the singer apologised for halting his promotions, shows, and shoots. He stated, “I sincerely apologise to all concerned for cancelling my commitments.”Last week, Papon was one of the many artists in the Indian music industry who recalled Zubeen's talent and artistry. He wrote on Instagram, "Missing you so much my brother. Stay happy wherever you are." He also attended Zubeen's funeral to say goodbye to his friend and big brother.
After Zubeen's death, Papon took to social media and wrote, "This is so shocking! The voice of a generation! Gone too soon. At a loss of words! Lost a friend. Lost a brother. A big void. Assam CID to investigate Zubeen Garg's death
After his untimely death in Singapore, a post-mortem was conducted before the singer's body was flown back to India. On September 28, it was revealed that the Assam government requested a second post-mortem and a Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been established to conduct further investigation. Zubeen's wife, Garima Saikia, his sister, Palme Borthakur, and his uncle, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, have filed a complaint with Assam CID.
