Case Filed Against Farhan Akhtar’s Family Driver, Petrol Pump Worker For Alleged Rs 12 Lakh Fraud

The Mumbai police have registered a case against a driver and a petrol pump employee in connection with a financial fraud involving Farhan Akhtar’s mother, Honey Irani. The accused driver, 35-year-old Naresh Singh, allegedly used fuel cards registered under Akhtar’s name to siphon cash from Irani’s vehicles, with the help of an employee at a petrol pump near Bandra Lake.As reported by Free Press Journal, the case came to light when Irani’s manager, Diya Bhatia, 36, noticed irregularities in the fuel records. On October 1, she filed a complaint after discovering that a car with a diesel tank capacity of 35 litres had been recorded as having received 621 litres. He allegedly visited the SV Road petrol pump near Bandra Lake frequently, swiping the cards without actually filling fuel. The petrol pump employee, 52-year-old Arun Singh, reportedly gave him cash after keeping a share ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per transaction.During an arranged meeting with Bhatia, Singh confessed to cheating Irani and revealed the modus operandi. The total amount involved in the alleged scam is approximately Rs 12 lakh.The Bandra police have filed the case under Sections 318 (criminal breach of trust), 418 (cheating), and 3(5) (general provisions) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether others were involved and to recover the misappropriated funds.
