There is hardly a Diwali party that can offend people- however, that is seemingly what happened when a video of THIS particular office Diwali party in Australia went viral on social media. The clip showed
employees dressed in beautiful Indian traditional attires– dancing to Bollywood songs. As per the post, the party was held at an Indian restaurant, with the aim of “bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate light, togetherness, and prosperity.” However, as soon as the clip began to gain more traction, rather unexpected comments began to surface. Many were seemingly left disappointed over the ‘way’ the festival was being celebrated– from questioning the ‘dance on Bollywood songs’ to even ‘alcohol being served’ at the party. The rest commented how the party had less to do with the festival and more with people dancing to Hindi songs.Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.There was also a section of netizens who found the company’s efforts commendable and appreciated the celebration of a different culture in a foreign land.Diwali- one of the biggest Hindu festivals- is just around the corner, and the vibes in India are festive ONLY. For some, Diwali will be celebrated on October 20, while for others, the festival will fall on October 21.
