Barkha Bisht Reveals Going Through Mother's Guilt And Making Up For It In Best Way Possible: When My Daughter... - EXCL
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Barkha Bisht expressed her views on actresses demanding shorter work shifts after embracing motherhood. She also shared her own personal journey of balancing career
and motherhood.
Barkha Bisht on Mother’s Guilt
Speaking candidly to Zoom, Barkha said: "I will say that it's a very personal choice of every woman whether she wants to work after having the baby, I mean how soon she wants to start working and for how long, it's a very personal choice. I had started working when my daughter was 1.5 years old and I was doing television, I was shooting 20 days a month 12 hours a day, but I was doing it, I went on with a lot of mother’s guilt and I tried to make up for it in the best way possible but I also understood that as a producer if you are casting somebody you want the full potential person."She further added: "Sometimes you are in such a position in the industry where it’s okay to put your foot down because you have already worked very hard in life. I have worked very hard for 20 years. Today, I am in a position where I can say I will only work this much, or I need a day off, or I want to go home, and people figure it out.""So I think when you reach that position, it’s not because you are a successful actor, but because you have given so many years to this industry. And today, when I’ve embraced motherhood, the industry should support me at least this much. Because I did everything while I was single and even after I got married, I worked. Now that I am a mother, the industry should at least extend that support."
