Video: Singer Zubeen Garg's Body Reaches Guwahati, Cremation Plans to Be Finalised Today

body of popular singer Zubeen Garg arrived at Guwahati airport on Sunday morning, drawing thousands of fans who gathered to pay their last respects.Garg's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and senior state officials received the singer's mortal remains at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The body was transported in a flower-decorated ambulance through the VIP exit.The casket will first be taken to Garg's Kahilipara residence, where family members, including his 85-year-old ailing father, will have about 90 minutes to pay their respects. Later, the body will be moved to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, where the public can pay homage from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Final arrangements for the singer's last rites are yet to be announced. The Assam Cabinet is scheduled to meet Sunday evening to decide the cremation venue in consultation with the family and local organisations.The singer's body was flown from Delhi, as it could not fit on a chartered flight, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said. The flight left New Delhi at 4:30 AM Sunday after arriving from Singapore around midnight, where Garg died while swimming without a life jacket.CM Sarma, accompanied by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and other senior officials, received the singer's body at the airport and paid tribute.
