A farmer from Chhattisgarh has gone viral on social media after buying a Honda Activa scooter for his daughter using Rs 40,000 worth of coins — most of them in Rs 10 denominations. The man, identified as Bajrang Ram Bhagat from Kesarapath village in Jashpur district, had been saving the coins for nearly six to seven months before finally using them to fulfil his daughter’s wish.According to a Hindustan Times report, Bhagat visited a local showroom in Jashpur along with his daughter Champa and made the full payment of RS 98,700, out of which Rs 40,000 was in coins and the rest in currency notes. He said he preferred paying in cash rather than taking a loan. The showroom owner, Anand Gupta, shared that the coins took nearly three hours to count
before the payment could be processed. Once completed, the family received the scooter along with a mixer grinder as part of a festive lucky draw offer.A video from the showroom, showing staff counting the piles of coins, has been circulating widely online and winning praise for the farmer’s dedication and hard work.
Champa, a B.Com student, said the scooter will make everyday commuting and carrying goods much easier for the family. The Bhagat family lives in a home built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and benefits from several welfare schemes, including PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and the Mahtari Vandan scheme. They have electricity at home, while their drinking water is sourced from a nearby borewell, the report added.
