What began with a seemingly harmless comment on an Instagram reel turned into a full-blown drama that was quick to highlight India’s poor women's safety status! A video was shared on social media, where
a woman- an influencer- shared about a rather creepy incident that happened with her a few days back. As per the post, one of her followers had commented about a specific night- describing what the influencer was doing. Responding to the comment, the woman- Shiwangi Peswani- asked how the follower recognised her in the dark. The response that the follower gave- left Peswani with chills. Turned out, the follower in question was a cop who had spotted Peswani a while back at night. After spotting the influencer, the cop allegedly ‘fell for her’, resulting in him tracking her personal details! Further, in an attempt to connect with the woman, the cop then found her Instagram ID and commented in one of her reels- through a fake ID that had a woman’s name. Calling the incident "dangerous", the woman shared some disturbing screenshots of problematic texts that the police officer was sending her repeatedly. Finally taking action, the influencer filed a complaint with the police. However, a police complaint- that was supposed to make Peswani feel better- left her feeling further speechless after the police gave a rather eye-raising suggestion. As per the woman, the police called her to the police station after a week, in the presence of the culprit. Believe it or not, as a ‘solution’ to the case, the police allegedly asked the woman to ‘block the cop and just move on’. The normalisation of such harassment by the police was quick to leave the woman disturbed. She later took it to the internet, shared how she will ensure that the cop involved gets his due punishment. She then talked about how ‘men’ need to know that they ‘cannot text women just about anything’. The post went viral and left netizens fuming. Most chastised the police’s action, while some encouraged her to get the justice she and women in general deserve. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.
