Garg’s untimely demise raised many questions. The Assamese singer was in Singapore for a cultural event when he allegedly died while swimming during a yacht party on September 19. According to the post-mortem conducted in Singapore, he died of drowning. The Assam government requested a second post-mortem and established a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to conduct further investigation. According to the latest development, Zubeen's wife, Garima Saikia, his sister, Palme Borthakur and his uncle, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, filed a complaint with Assam CID.

After the Assam government demanded a probe into Zubeen’s death, FIRs were filed against his manager, Siddharth and the organiser of the North East India Festival in Singapore, Shyamkanu Mahanta. On September 25, the SIT and CID teams conducted raids at their houses. Several items, including a pendrive, a hard disk, a computer CPU and documents were seized. Zubeen’s colleague-musician Sekhar Jyoti Goswami’s home was also inspected. Siddharth and Shyamkanu are directed to appear before the CID office in Guwahati by October 6. If they fail to comply, strict action will be taken against them, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. Zubeen died on September 19 and was cremated in Kamarkuchi village on September 23 with full state honours.Do you find this article useful?
