
Three Indians were killed and five went missing after a launch boat capsized off Beira port in central Mozambique, the Indian High Commission said. The accident occurred on Friday during a routine crew
transfer to a tanker anchored offshore. The boat, carrying fourteen Indian nationals, overturned for reasons that are still under investigation."We convey our heartfelt condolences on the loss of lives, including of three Indian nationals, in a boat accident off Beira port. Mission is in contact with families of those who have lost their lives in this unfortunate accident and is extending all possible assistance to them," the Indian High Commission said in a statement on X.
The High Commission confirmed that of the total passengers, five individuals had been rescued and are safe. One of them is receiving treatment at a hospital in Beira."A Consular Officer from Mission is in Beira and visited Indian national who survived the unfortunate boat mishap and is receiving medical attention in the hospital in Beira. 5 other Indian nationals have been rescued," another post stated. The mission said it has released helpline numbers and is coordinating with local authorities and maritime agencies to continue the search for the remaining five missing Indians. It added that the families of the deceased are being supported and expressed condolences over the loss of life.
