is now titled Arasan. The title for the highly anticipated marks the first time collaboration of actor Silambarasan TR, director Vetri Maaran, and producer Kalaippuli S Thanu. The project announcement of the title was o social media with a brand new poster.

The film's first look features Silambarasan TR in a blood-soaked shirt, holding a machete in hand while his face remains hidden.The film, which is currently in production, is part of the Vada Chennai universe. The film's screenplay was written by Vetrimaaran in 2018. While he wrote the script with Silambarasan TR as his lead, the director had to make changes to make it match with Dhanush's role.

Kalaippuli S Thanu who backs V Creations revealed that the film's trailer will be out soon very soon on social media and in theatres at the same time. "Once the censorship formalities are over, the trailer will be out soon," the producer wrote. This is a special moment for us to express our gratitude to the fans for the trust and love they have placed in the Silambarasan-Vetri Maaran collaboration. Get ready for the celebration," the producer's statement read. "Most of what you saw in Vada Chennai did not have what I wrote initially when I wanted to cast Simbu. But when that did not take off and Dhanush came in, I had to rewrite it. So, STR 49 will retain what the original script of Vada Chennai had. There are common characters in STR 49 and Vada Chennai, who step in and out of both worlds. But the film will not feature Dhanush's Anbu." said the director.Arasan is expected to star notable names from Vada Chennai including Andrea reprising her role as Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, alongside Manikandan and Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited. Despite being in the same universe, it is said that Dhanush's character Anbu is not a part of Arasan.
