On Vijaya Dashami, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Hits Back At Trump's Tariffs, Sends A Message On 'Violent Uprisings'
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday responded strongly to United States President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs, and backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to accept 'Swadeshi'
goods. Bhagwat said that the strength and character of the Hindu society guarantee unity, underscoring that the concept of "us and them" never existed."Recently, America adopted a new tariff policy. It might be for their own benefit, but its impact is being felt by everyone… The nation has to have all kinds of relationships, but this dependence should not turn into compulsion; hence, we will have to become self-reliant. We will need to become ‘Aatma Nirbhar’," said Bhagwat during RSS centenary programme. Bhagwat said that the world is looking towards India for solutions of global concerns. "The universe wants India to lead by example and show the world a way," he said.
What RSS Chief Said On Nepal Protest?
On the recent protests in several south-Asian countries, including Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Bhagwat saud that such "so-called revolutions" do not achieve their objectives. "If we see the history of all the political revolutions so far, none of them has ever achieved their objective. All the revolutions in nations with governments have transformed frontal nations into capitalist nations. No aim is achieved in violent protests, but the powers sitting outside the country get a platform to play their games..." he said.
Bhagwat On Pahalgam Terror Attack
On the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and India's response to it, Bhagwat said that the incident showed the nature and extent of their friendship with India. "Even though we maintain friendly relations with other countries, and we will continue to do so, when it comes to our security, we need to be more careful, more watchful and stronger. After the Pahalgam attack, the positions taken by various countries also revealed which of them are our friends, and to what extent," Bhagwat said."This caused immense pain and anger in the country. Our government made complete preparations and gave a firm rebuttal. In the aftermath, the leadership's resolve, the valour of our armed forces and the unity of society were evident," he said.During the address, Bhagwat paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversaries are celebrated on October 2.
