As
the festive season picks up, customers across India are advised to check bank holiday schedules before visiting branches. Banks in multiple states will remain closed on October 1 and 2, 2025, due to Dussehra, Gandhi Jayanti, and other regional festivals, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) official holiday calendar.Where Banks Will Remain Closed
- October 1 (Wednesday): Branches in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Kerala will remain closed on account of Dussehra, Ayudha Pooja, and Durga Puja.
- October 2 (Thursday): Gandhi Jayanti will be observed nationwide, leading to a complete banking holiday across India. The day also coincides with Dasara, Vijaya Dashami, and Janmotsav of Sri Sri Sankardeva.
- October 3 & 4: In Sikkim, banks will remain shut for extended Durga Puja (Dasain) celebrations.
- SBI, PNB, Bank of India, Canara Bank: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (some branches close at 3:30 pm).
- HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak Mahindra, Yes Bank: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (or 3:30 pm depending on the branch).
- Bank of Baroda: 9:45 am – 4:45 pm (in some cases, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm).
