Shakti Shalini: Aneet Padda Replaced Kiara Advani In Maddock Film Because Of THESE Reasons - Report

Aneet Padda, who won millions of hearts with her debut film Saiyaara, alongside Ahaan Panday, was recently reported to have joined his second Bollywood project in the form of Maddock's Shakti Shalini.

While Maddock Films publicly denied any changes in the cast of the film, a recent report confirms that Aneet Padda has officially stepped in to play the titular role, replacing Kiara Advani. While the studio has yet to issue a formal statement, the casting shift has generated significant buzz in the industry, especially considering Kiara was previously announced as the film’s lead.

Aneet Padda replaces Kiara Advani in Shakti Shalini

A report in Bollywood Hungama quoted a close to the production, and revealed that the decision to replace Kiara with Aneet Padda was primarily due to scheduling conflicts. “Shakti Shalini is a critical film in the studio’s upcoming universe, and it’s imperative for the shoot to commence by the end of 2025. Kiara’s schedule is completely packed until mid-2026. She’s one of the most in-demand actresses at the moment, and there simply wasn’t any room in her calendar to accommodate the film’s timeline," revealed the source.

Changes in Shakti Shalini script

However, scheduling wasn’t the only reason behind the recasting. The source further explained that changes in the final script also contributed to the decision. “The latest version of the screenplay focuses on the coming-of-age journey of a woman in her mid-20s. When Kiara was initially approached for the role, the character was pitched to her as a more mature, layered individual. With the revised narrative leaning towards a younger protagonist, the creative direction no longer aligned with Kiara’s vision for the project.”

The source added, "Kiara and producer Dinesh Vijan continue to share a strong professional bond. In fact, Dinesh has already committed to bringing her another script within the next month. Maddock Films has several projects in the pipeline, and there’s no doubt that Kiara will headline one of them soon.”
