Mohit Suri on how Aditya Chopra reacted to Saiyaara in early stage of film
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Mohit recalled the early stages of the film. He shared, “When Adi sir (Aditya Chopra) and Akshaye first saw the rough cut, it was a mess - really long and quite loose. It ran for 3 hours and 15 minutes, and this was just a few months before release. I told them I’d tighten it. But despite the rough version, Adi sir was very confident. He said, ‘Even if this film opens at ₹4-5 crores, it’ll still touch ₹100 crores.’ He meant that something in the film just worked, even in that raw state.”Mohit went on to say, “The last time I felt this kind of love from the audience was with Aashiqui 2 back in 2013. You can’t plan these moments. I tried to replicate it with Hamari Adhuri Kahaani in 2015, but it doesn’t work like that.”ALSO READ: Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda Are Literally Each Other's 'Saiyaara' And Duo's Latest Post Is Proof
Mohit Suri confirms ongoing talks for another Yash Raj Film
He also confirmed ongoing talks for another film with Yash Raj Films. The director shared, “Yes, we’re planning to collaborate again. This time, a completely new audience has connected with me. I’ve had 60-year-old aunties come up and say, ‘Beta, jeete raho. Bohot acchi picture banayi.’ That’s new for me! Earlier, I only knew the guy who'd come up to me, beating his chest." Reflecting on the advice he’s received over the years, Mohit concluded, “You can’t keep chasing a formula or trying to repeat what worked before. The only way forward is to start fresh every time.”
